I’ve talked about my Great-Grandfather, William P. McDonald, a couple of times here in my art blogs. He is a famous artist that is my Mom’s Mom’s Dad whose artwork has been a great source of inspiration to me. I wrote some about him in my “Sentimental Reminder - Seeds of Suns” blog as well as in the blog “Air to Water – The Revolution of Ten Koi”. In this blog I am finding myself reminiscing about another grandparent - - a grandparent who was as big a part of my life as any person could be: My Grandmother Margaret McDevitt Breslin - - my Dad’s mom. My Grandma Margaret ( 1902 - 1995 ) was the only grandparent that I ever met. She was the only grandparent that was alive during my years, and she played a very prominent leading and loving role in my life as well as in the life of all my immediate and large extended family. As I have recognized my entire life, there is no better role model of strength, confidence & smarts as well as constant loving support & kindness on this planet than my Grandma Margaret. Today while going through my collection of seasonal Irish decorations for this month of March, I came across some more Ireland inspired artwork that I am finding special to me now because one of the items is a painting of an Irish landscape that I made as a gift for my Grandma so many years ago. Looking at it is special to me now mainly because it reminds me of the love shared with my Grandma. “Between the earth and sky above, nothing can match a grandmother’s love.” ~ Unknown Find more stories about my Grandma in: “Spirits of Irish Immigrants” and "Hats On for Our Grandmothers, for Our Suffrage Era Ancestors, and for Ancient Columns of the Ionic Order" Another blog with notes about my Irish roots & family:
