Like awaiting the advent of the earth's new revolution around the sun marking growing daylight again, and like the anticipation and celebration of a birthday - - the birth of a son, a baby king { "Joy to the world… Let heaven and nature sing." } , I look forward to December 25th because that day also happens to be my birthday when I will celebrate my own annual "new trip around the sun". Through the years, I have enjoyed painting and hand crafting my own Christmas cards. This is one of my favorite cards which I made to give to friends & family for Christmas 2000. The painted cards were also tree ornaments since I strung a loop of gold thread through the top of each card. The painted Christmas ornament cards I created were based on my original “Tides of Eternity” clock that I designed in the late 1990’s after my sons were born. ~ I wrote more about my original “Tides of Eternity” design here on my “About” website page and also in my “May The Road Rise to Meet You” blog post. ( ...and shared some other versions of my ornament here on my *Tides of Eternity Art* facebook page. ) My "Tides of Eternity" clocks illustrate the changing time of day through a series of painted trees that circle the center of the clock face. By coloring the changes in the foliage of the circling tree along with the rising & setting sun, my creation colorfully relates the changing time of one day to the changing seasons of one year. My original "Tides Of Eternity" creation is a completely hand-painted and hand-crafted working clock that I designed spontaneously in 1998. ~ I now understand it as a sort of "mandala", but at the time when I created it I had never heard the word mandala nor did I know what one is. { In my mind, the process was propelled by something along the lines of the cliché “one day at a time.” …Though through the many layered processes of creating it, it was and continues to be clear to me that I can endlessly find timely and timeless personal and universal meaning in each “Tides of Eternity” piece. } *Someday I will have to do a more in depth blog about this artwork because there is much more to this creation than could ever show in pictures. © 1998 Chrissy Breslin Schroeder Today as I decorate my home and prepare for the wonder and beauty of this season and its anticipation for the 25th of December, I say... Cheers to Christmas! I am ready for another round... Wishing the whole world Peace, Hope, Joy and Love... …And may all your wishes come true! ………………..
