First Day of Fall

The next month or so I am quite busy working on a full order of a variety of artwork, portraits, landscapes, etc., that have been commissioned as mostly Christmas gifts. Since they are being created as surprise gifts, I won’t be able to share my work online. - - But, since I love this season and Halloween so much, I am going to share some Fall themed art to celebrate this day of The Autumnal Equinox  =  The First Day of Fall!

This is an old picture of a painting of one of my favorite fun classic movie scenes. It’s from the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” when “Holly Golightly“ (Audrey Hepburn) and her friend “Paul” (George Peppard) walk out of the Five & Dime Shop and run down the street wearing the plastic masks they found on a shelf.

This picture better captures the vibrancy of the colors in the actual painting.  I wanted full color and brightness on this canvas to give the piece that “Technicolor” feel. - - I love old “Technicolor” movies!  I call the painting "Huckleberry Friends".

The next painting I actually did before I painted the Breakfast At Tiffany's movie scene.  Because of my fascination with the "Technicolor" era and with all things and ideas “old-fashioned”, I had imagined the following painting first then went online to find some of those old, thin plastic face masks that were on the market this time of year during the mid 20th century.  After gathering a collection of the popular old plastic masks and reimagining them (or for some just basically making them up), I created this “Vintage Halloween Masks” painting.  { Find more about the process here on my "Tides of Eternity Art" facebook page. }

This will forever remain one of my very favorite paintings:  A painting of my first little trick-or-treater on his first night of “Tricks & Treats”.  - - It was after my first son was born and I became a "stay-at-home-mom", that I found some time to explore and develop my art.

An old, large painting with an autumn landscape that I painted back in the fall of 2001 has found space on the walls of our homes through the years: "Paint Horse and Girl" { oil on 3' x 4' canvas }

Fans sport orange and black all year round in my hometown, but especially this time of year and no doubt on this coming Sunday when the Cincinnati Bengals host their home opener. ~ I made this painting of a Bengal tiger rising out of its stadium and tearing the field of “The Jungle”  a few football seasons back and have sold a whole lot of prints of the painting through my Etsy shop and elsewhere.  ( Prints of the art can be found here. )

  **Bengal Tiger Update: Memories of the 1988 season returned and after many years the 2021 season found the Bengals Super Bowl bound once again.

These days I’ve been selling this painting’s inspiration with a whole variety of products through Sociey6.

I’ve had this canvas of an owl staring back at me in my studio since last fall, yet I haven’t gotten round to completely finishing it…

    I am a 'self-taught' artist who can hardly remember a day when I wasn't in the process of creating something... Thanks for visiting my site where I can share some of my work.
